Feelings of high human longing will invade your senses just before an elite team of Navy SEALs storm your mountain compound and eliminate you with, like, extreme prejudice? Symbolically, mind, so no big deal at this juncture. Nor any less aboard the destroyer from where your body’ll be dumped without ceremony into the balmy waves of an Arabian Sea. Only later on while driving home from the movie-lot you’ll have what Jules Winnfield calls a moment of clarity, where from the Pacific the light sprung eastward, oranging the orange groves. But you had had very little to eat that day and your brain had shut down its more angelic functions and you were like “just give me the fucking pizza” and the wolf-urge came over you and you were mean to the server. Well. The mind naturally desires to exist forever—that’s Aquinas. Who will see a light that renders all his theology as straw. And so one goes, from pizza to pizza.
